October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Each year in the U.S., thousands of victims of domestic violence are killed by their partners. Through song, speech, poetry, and inspirational survivor stories, we will honor those lost and celebrate survivors. Please join The Laurel Center by lighting a candle to bring awareness to domestic violence in our community.

Cada año en los Estados Unidos, miles de víctimas de la violencia doméstica son asesinadas por sus parejas. A través de canciones, discursos, poesías y relatos inspiradores de supervivientes, honraremos a los perdidos por la violencia doméstica y celebraremos a los supervivientes.

The Laurel Center will hold a Yard Sale fundraiser on October 19th, 2024 at 22 Clark Street (corner of Clark and Cameron Street) from 8 am to 2 pm.

The Laurel Center’s storage facility is filled with dinnerware, seasonal items, furniture, household items, books and more that needs to be cleared out to make room for essential items for the shelter. All money raised will go right back to The Laurel Center and provide services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Come out to the Clarke County Farmer’s Market on October 19th for Geneva Jackson’s Cake Bake-Off! All proceeds benefit The Laurel Center!

Bakers of all ages can present their best cakes for legendary cook and certified food judge Ms. Geneva Jackson. Registration is held day-of at the market. Cakes must be entered by 10 am, judging begins at 10:30 am, and winners are announced at 11 am. The entry fee is $10 per cake and prizes will be awarded.
