Letter from the Director

Dear Neighbor,

In our community, The Laurel Center has been providing a comprehensive program of shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, and court advocacy for victims of domestic and sexual violence for nearly 40 years.

This year we need your help more than ever due to the pandemic and a substantial reduction in grant funding.

The needs are now greater. Services numbers are higher. While we wish we did not need more resources, the growing number of families that need our support has increase dramatically to the point where we have significant waiting lists for services.

While we have served thousands of families over the past years, the complexity of needs has increased as well as the number and severity of cases. The Laurel Center believes all victims of abuse and their families deserve a safe, violence-free place to heal. Your support of our services is both an investment in our community and a commitment to help victims of abuse.

With your support, our emergency shelter and support services will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of the families we serve. Each year,

The Laurel Center shelters and provides support services to over 4,000 men, women and children in our community.

During the holidays, family violence often escalates and calls for help increase. As the pandemic and social distancing measures continue to limit access to resources and further isolate survivors and vulnerable people, this holiday season will present additional barriers and safety concerns for survivors seeking help.

Thus, shelter, a 24/7 hotline and support services are more crucial than ever before.

Your holiday season gift will bring new life and new hope to individuals who are survivors of family violence. With your caring and generosity, at-risk individuals and their children in our community can have a safe holiday season and begin to rebuild their lives.

Please take a moment to review how you can help victims of domestic violence become survivors. Your donation will help feed, clothe, and protect families fleeing from violence. Your gift will return laughter, warmth, and safety to families that are consumed by fear, heartache, and pain. You can also learn more about The Laurel Center at www.tlc.ngo or to make a donation by debit or credit card.

Thank you for your continued support and have a happy and healthy holiday season!

With Deepest Gratitude,.
